Essential Oil uses: Because Essential oils are highly concentrated, they need to be used with care.  Apply them by the drop.  The general rules are to add them to your bath or to dilute them in carrier oils, such as sweet almond, jojoba, sesame, hazelnut or grapeseed, before using topically.  They can also be diffused in the air.  Select essential oils with similar properties and blend together to create your own unique aromas.
In the home: Enhance your home environment naturally.  While many of the synthetic commercial air fresheners merely mask smells, essential oils cleanse the air.  Not only can they make your rooms smell pleasant but recent scientific studies have demonstrated that many of the essential oils have disinfectant properties while others can positively impact your mood.

To achieve this, just add 10 drops of your favorite oil, mixture of oils, or pre-blended oils to a spray bottle.  Shake well before using.  For a longer lasting effect, place oils in a diffuser, lamp ring or add to water in a simmering potpourri pot.

In the bedroom: Try Lavender, Marjoram, or Roman Chamomile to help you relax.
Try Ylang Ylang Rose, Jasmine and Patchouli to create a romantic mood.
Try Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Basil, Niaouli or Tea Tree to help you breathe when congested.

In the kitchen: Put a few drops of Lemon and Eucalyptus in your soft soap bye the kitchen sink.
Use Lemon, Eucalyptus and Lavender in rinse water when wiping the table or working surfaces.
Add any of the citruses to your dishwater for that natural zing.
Soak your washcloths in a mixture of Lemon, Lavender and Tea Tree after each use and before washing them.

In the laundry: Try adding a few drops of your favorite scent to the final rinse.  Make sure you add oils to the water and never directly on the clothes.  Or, put oils on a clean cloth and put the cloth in the dryer.

In the bath: Add no more than 9-10 drops to your bath.  Use less if your skin is sensitive.  Stir the water briskly to disperse evenly.  For a Relaxing bath try Lavender, Marjoram, and Neroli.

In the car: Use peppermint, grapefruit or rosemary to help you stay alert.
